OET is a Profession based English course conducted by CAE Australia. It is a course for medical professionals who wish to migrate, study or work in Australia or New Zealand. Each medical profession has a separate test related to their field in OET.OET comprises of four modules, similar to the OET, i.e:- reading, listening, writing and speaking. OET test result are given in grade system, the highest grade is A, next is B and it goes down C, D, E respectively. Most of the health professionals need A, B or C grade to process applications for study, work or migrate purpose. The Australian Embassy in New Delhi and Madras conducts these examinations six to seven times a year (January, March, May, June, August, October, and November). Differences Between IELTS & OET

1. If a candidate appears for IELTS and does not attain the required score, he/she will have to appear for the whole exam again. On the other hand if a candidate fail or score less in any of the OET modules, he/she only needs to repeat that particular modules and moreover fees will be levied for that particular module only.
2. IELTS have questions based on general topics. But OET, being a profession based English exam, deals only with Medical topics. [I.e. for Nurses, only nursing related topics, for physiotherapists, only physiotherapy related topics, for Pharmacists only pharmacy related subjects, etc.] Thus OET is easier to score for people who are in the medical profession.
3. OET uses real healthcare scenarios to test English and communication skills. OET has specific subtests for 12 professions, including nursing and medicine.
4. OET is the best obvious choice for healthcare professionals looking to register and practice in English speaking countries.
5. OET uses real communication scenarios candidates will experience in their healthcare workplace. General or academic tests, on the other hand, assess English language skills using every day or academic scenarios.
