The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the world’s largest English language proficiency test. IELTS is owned by three partners, the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, the British council and IDP Education Australia Ltd. IELTS is a widely recognized and a reliable mean of assessing the language ability of candidates who want to study, work or immigrate to countries where English language is primarily used as a mode of communication. It assesses a candidate’s ability to communicate in English. IELTS comprises of four modules i.e. Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. This test is conducted by British council and IDP Education Australia Ltd in major cities worldwide every month on the days instructed by the council. IELTS include two types of test which are the Academic and general training. IELTS Academic is mostly given by candidates who are planning to study abroad and IELTS general is used for candidates planning for immigration or work purpose.

The IELTS test is designed to understand the level of English language spoken in day to day life in an English-speaking country. It even covers the different accents such as British English, American and Australian English.
