The Australian Migration eligibility is measured through 10 selection factors:

• Education
• Australian or Overseas Skilled Employment in Nominated Occupation (employment should be in nominated occupation or closely related occupation) ,
• Age
• English Language ability
• Australian Study Requirements
• Study in Regional area in Australia
• Professional Year in Australia
• Credentialed Community Language
• Partner Skills
• Sponsorship from an Australian state.

All applicants need minimum 1 year experience within the last 10 years. If the applicant has different experience other than nominated occupation or if it is not closely related occupation, then in such situations points will not be granted. From the above criteria, the applicant should obtain a total of minimum 65 points to be eligible for PR application. Even if the applicant meets the minimum points criteria without IELTS, he/she should obtain a minimum cut of IELTS score of 6 in each band in IELTS General/ Academic or approved English Test . If the applicant is married, his/her spouse should have a minimum IELTS score of 4.5 in each band or evidence of 2 years post-secondary study in English medium or provide receipt of Adult Migrant English Program confirmation of enrolment from an Australian institution.

Applicant who is not able to meet 65 points can obtain Australian PR through Australian state nomination program if they have 60 points by obtaining state sponsorship contributing 5 points to immigration selection system. As an obligation to sponsored state, the immigrant should stay at least 2 years in the state and after that if they want to change their state of residency, it is possible. Besides, applicant who meet 55 points can obtain regional provisional visa 489 of 4 years duration by obtaining sponsorship from Australian regional area or sponsorship from a relative living in designated regional area contributing 10 points to immigration selection system. Regional provisional visa holders should stay and work for at least for 2 years in the specific area and after this, applicant is eligible to get skilled regional permanent visa which is equal to Australian permanent residency.

In Australian migration process, every applicant’s qualifications and experience should be assessed by the concerned professional bodies for their nominated occupation in Australia and obtain an eligible assessment report. For this assessment, most of the professional bodies have required minimum qualification and IELTS requirements along with a non- refundable application fee.

Health professionals and Accounts Auditors requires Australian Professional Board full registration/ license or membership to apply for Australian PR. For obtaining this registration and license these professionals have to undergo training programs or licensing examinations, but for an overseas graduate it is not easy to pass these tests without proper training.

So these types of professionals are advised to enrol in study programs or training programs in Australia leading to registration and license with their concerned professional bodies in order to be eligible for Australian PR. For all other professionals’ like- Accountants, Teachers, Social Workers, Engineers, IT Professionals and skilled trade persons after the assessment, if the applicant is eligible, the professional board will issue an eligibility letter. With this assessment letter and required IELTS, the applicant should submit an EOI to the Australian Immigration. By meeting Minimum eligibility, applicant can submit EOI, but in any category if the points obtained is found equals to or more than the Australian immigration threshold requirement, the invitation is given to highest point achieved applicants among them.

This cut off point will be decided by Australian immigration authorities. Those who meet final selection point criteria of Australian Immigration, will be invited to apply for PR in Australia. Based on this invitation, you can submit your visa application to the Australian Visa Office with the required fee. As part of the process you need to undergo medical examination and clear the medical test. The concerned Visa Officer will verify all the supporting information and if satisfied, you will be issued with an Australian PR.
